Digg Vs. StumbleUpon - And The Winner Is ….

Hi! It seems you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting! Feel free to leave comments on posts!

As a blogger I find myself sucked in deep by DIGG and StumbleUpon and I am pretty sure you are too. I find myself voting and checking some cool articles and pages using these two services. They have become an ever so integral part of my online life. I had a chance to quick check the rankings of both Social Giants and I present to you a post that is purely supported by images as to which site is more popular among ” Web Socialites. ” Personally, I love both StumbleUpon and DIGG and this blog wouldn’t survive without either services.

First Round

Let Alexa Decide The First Round

Alexa Ranking For DIGG - 115
Alexa Ranking For StumbleUpon - 270

And the Winner is DIGG!

Second Round

Let Ranking Decide The Second Round

And the winner is DIGG!

Third Round

Let Quantcast Decide The Third Round

And the winner is DIGG!

Fourth And Final Round

Let The Ever So Mighty PageRank Decide The Final Round

And It’s A Tie

I just had an itch to look up the rankings of these two services that are so near and dear to all of us. Thought I would share it with you. Again, to me both StumbleUpon and DIGG are equally important as most of the traffic comes from these two sites to this blog. Also I have met some very nice people and have made good friends through these sites.

Personally, these rankings don’t matter. Don’t worry which one is more popular among the massess, you let the winner be the one that does the most for you.

  1. Say this is a nice comparison using the various tools. Would be good if you could do other sites too like MySpace vs. Facebook and so on. Thanks for the charts.

  2. An interesting comparison, good job

  3. Interesting stuff, although I think that the present numbers don’t accurately reflect the potential reach of Stumbleupon. Digg has simply been around longer, so they have more market share, but being a user of both of these websites, my money is on Stumbleupon in the long run.

  4. Stumble wins, hands down.
    Digg sucks.

Very true. I just wanted to see how they ranked depending on different factor. But as fast stumble upon is growing I think it will soon catch up with DIGG.

But again its not about competing, its about providing service and both services do an excellent job in that.

We all have our own opinion and taste. I love both DIGG and SU

  7. Nice one Ritu, quite some nice infos there, I personally use Stumbleupon and didnt test digg yet. Gonna check digg out later on when i get home.

  8. […] Digg Vs. StumbleUpon - And the Winner Is …. - Work N Play has written an interesting comparison of Digg versus stumbleupon. […]

  9. This is a really interesting article. I was thinking one day what was the best social site to be affiliated with, but I thought, “the more the better” right?

Maybe I can use this information for which order to put the links once my site is running.

Here’s an idea, what are all the social sites and how do they match up? Or not ‘all’ of them, but like the top 10-15?

Would be interesting to get a synopsis of whats out there.

    Thanks,
    Emily

You have got to check DIGG out :-), can’t miss that

Thank You! I will try and put up a list of the top social sites in near future :-)

  11. Good comparison. But when you compare with traffic, StumbleUpon is good. Digg sends enormous amount of traffic only when your post gets on to the front page. But in StumbleUpon, even four stumbles can SOMETIMES get 1000 visitors.

StumbleUpon is good for newbie and intermediate bloggers while Digg is good for extraordinary bloggers. Digg front page is not at all easy while reaching the StumbleUpon Buzz page for a specific tag is not tough and it can get you 2500+ visitors.

Anyway a really good comparison post. Good luck.

  12. Alexa numbers are heavily srewed since they only report of peoples traffic having the toolbar installed.

The number of backlinks is no wonder due to the fact that every site with a link button on every post has such a backlink to digg - many many more than just SU or some other sites.

And in the end I do not think it is useful to compare them through this for the simple reason, that both suit a very different audience.

It is only relevant if you do receive the kind of success from them with your efforts you want to see. :)

  13. From a webmasters standpoint the real question is: Which site gets you the most amount of visitors? From my experiences StumbleUpon brings in more quality visitors than Digg while Digg brings in the sheer numbers.

I like SU better than Digg because I find it’s less spammy. Often you’ll see the same site 5-10 times in Digg.

Comments Are Always Welcome!
